How to Prepare for Power Washing
Clear access and accurate site details help a provider assess exterior cleaning safely and efficiently.
Preparation starts with access and safety, then continues with a clear picture of the surfaces and property conditions.
Clear the working area
Move vehicles, furniture, loose objects, and planters from the work area where possible. Identify parking, gates, paths, ladders, and equipment access so the provider can understand how the site can be reached.
Protect people, pets, and property
Secure pets, keep people away from the work area, close windows, and follow provider instructions for plants and outdoor items. Do not assume all surfaces, outlets, or fixtures can be exposed to the same cleaning process.
Identify fragile or damaged areas
Point out loose paint or finishes, damaged siding, cracked masonry, failed seals, roof concerns, exposed outlets, delicate plants, and any other fragile area. Existing conditions should be reviewed before cleaning begins.
Confirm water, access, and instructions
Confirm exterior tap availability, parking, gates, access times, water restrictions, and any site rules. Ask the provider what additional preparation, shutoffs, or protection they require for the planned service.
